Our customer undertakes the task of stamping the leather soles for one if his customers. The soles have to be fed, alternating left and right, to the machine in exact x-/y-position as well as in the right angle to the stamping tool.
KeySysTech developed a system consisting of 2 monochrome cameras, the machine vision software as well as a control unit.
The cameras take each a picture of the area in which the back and the front edge of the sole might be. By means of the contrast between the soles and the background the edge of the sole can be calculated. With the help of to detected edges the exact position can now be calculated. This data is conveyed over the ethernet interface of the control unit to the SPS, so the correction of position can be done.
In addition to that the vision system also recognise is a left or right sole is being fed to the machine. Noticing a mistake the operator is notified. Thus the vision system also undertakes tasks of quality assurance.
